Zenaida Dove - No - Long Key State Park - 03-05-16

Many more birders than Zenaida Doves today, at least 15-0.

Beautiful day for a hike with the family though.

I received a message at about 6pm from Kenny Miller that the Zenaida Dove finely popped up. He also had the Black-faced Grassquit in the campground.

The small group of us that stayed still 6pm were lucky enough to have the Zenaida Dove come out on the trail very close to where Rangel put his flagging tape. The Black-faced Grassquit was seen by a handful of us at campsite 37 at around 4pm, and seen by others earlier in the day including Neil Hayward around campsite 40. I photographed both and I will upload when I get home.

Nice shots, Kenny. I missed the dove by 20 minutes and the Grassquit by 5 or 10. Limitations of finding rarities with the family, though it was fun nevertheless.

A female birder whom we met there said that she'd been getting (plural) the Grassquit at that location, camp sites 36-7, between 8-10 in the morning and 2-4 PM. Hope it's helpful.
