To conserve and restore South Florida ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats.

Tropical Audubon Society facilitates its Mission via:

Conservation: Protect native plants, indigenous species and the environment by promoting wise stewardship of habitat and natural resources.

Education: Cultivate a better understanding of, and appreciation for, Nature, the environment and ecological relationships.

Preservation: Maintain the integrity of the Doc Thomas House in accordance with its charter designation, its Miami-Dade County historic status, its Florida Heritage Site recognition and its distinguished listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Recreation: Bring together those with shared interests for pleasurable outings and events that showcase our Steinberg Nature Center and other treasured South Florida habitats.

Geographic Target

Our core region is comprised of Miami-Dade and mainland Monroe counties, wherein we focus on water quality and habitat sustainability in Biscayne Bay, Florida Bay and the Everglades.
