Bird Board

Woodmont Natural Area, Tamarac

4:40 PM--6:10 PM Tuesday. It was totally dead until I got to the small clearing on the right as you approach the wet area below the boardwalk (going counterclockwise). All the birds except the raptors were seen either in the big ficus, or close to it:

Merlin flyover
Broad-winged Hawk(s) my best guess at 2 backlit flyovers
Osprey
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Great Crested Flycatcher
Brown Thrasher (2-3)
Swainson's Thrush (3-5) Actively feeding; sometimes attempting to hover to grab a berry, sometimes jumping up off a branch for one.
American Redstart
Black and White Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler m
Northern Parula
Scarlet Tanager m,f
Summer Tanager m,f

Two different walkers have told me there is a pair of Great Horned Owls in residence, but I have not seen them yet.

It's off NW 80th Ave., just north of McNab Rd. and west of University Blvd. It is sporadically good during migration. Good luck!
