White Tailed Kites, nesting?

Today in Broward county on Snake Rd about 3.5 miles North of Alligator Alley. A Pair of White Tailed Kites were protecting an area and one seemed to be carrying nesting material. Do they nest in Broward County?

Yes, White-tailed Kites have been breeding -- probably annually or nearly so -- since at least 1986, when three nests were found. In 1984, an adult and juvenile found in the (then-undeveloped) Weston area suggested that breeding had begun at least two years earlier.

Bill thanks for the information. Using google maps the nesting WT Kites are located 2.7 miles North of the Miccosukee Gas Station on W SR 84 (Snake road). This is the first place to safely pull over just North of the building complex on the West side of the road. The area claimed by the birds was on the west side and in the distant tree line.
