Visiting Birder Seeking Antillean Nighthawks
Hi folks. Would any local birders in the Keys be interested in taking a Georgia boy birding at Key Deer National Wildlife Refuge and/or the Marathon area for Antillean Nighthawk in the late afternoon/evening on July 9th?
I have a day and a half on Key West before hopping on a boat for a NOAA seabird survey and would love to see Antillean Nighthawk (one of a only few potential lifers), but I don’t have any way of getting around besides walking. I can promise good company and gas money. If anyone is interested, they can reach me at randrew899@gmail.com. Thank you!

Go to the south end of the Marathon Airport towards dusk. You will be guaranteed to see and hear them there.
Antillean Nighthawks can be found right in Key West. Try Little Hamaca City Park, on the north side of Key West International Airport, accessed via Government Road, which intersects with Flagler Avenue between 7th and 8th Street. Just because they haven't been reported on eBird since early May doesn't necessarily mean that they're not there. It may simply mean that no one has looked there recently.
Two extremely reliable spots in Lower Keys for Antilleans are Sugarloaf Lodge and Blimp Road on Cudjoe Key.
Hi- I am another birder who is seeking Antillean Nighthawks for when I will be in the area late this month. Marathon Airport is going to be the closest location to where I'm staying. At the south (or west I guess is the same) end of the Airport/Aviation Blvd, is there a specific place to park while watching there? Thanks!
