Tour de Oregon Trip Report: June 15-23, 2019
Ten birders joined Stefan Schlick and me this past June 15-23 for the TAS birding tour to the beautiful state of Oregon. During the nine days of our tour, we enjoyed weather that was decidedly cooler than what most participants left behind (or had to return to) here in Florida. The group experienced the full range of Oregon's distinct ecosystems, from the spectacular Pacific coast to the dramatic snow-capped peaks of the Cascades to the seemingly unending high desert grasslands of the east. The wildlife was abundant and conspicuous everywhere we went. By tours' end, we tallied almost 190 species of birds, including one bird that had eluded me for decades: a Northern Pygmy-Owl!
