Tomorrow's Everglades Agricultural Area Field Trip

The TAS trip to the Everglades Agricultural Area will take place as scheduled tomorrow. We meet at 6:30am at Sawgrass Recreation Area, on US 27 about two miles north of I-75. Lunch will be at a fast food restaurant, likely in Belle Glade. It being the rainy season, you may want to pack an umbrella.

In case I cannot make it. Was in that area today and have an update of locations.
On US 27 on the East side just south of King Ranch (across from Willard Smith Rd) Several fields with couple of thousand birds: Glossy Ibis Storks Herons Egrets Spoonbills some ducks and shorebirds.
Hatton Road still has 8 Upland Sandpipers.
New Vandergrift Rd near 98 and Connor's Highway was also active with Storks Pelicans Ducks Gulls Terns Egret Herons Spoonbill and shorebirds.
Browns Farm Rd also had some birds but some areas will be inaccessible and distant.

Is the Great Black Hawk still in the Keys?

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to, but the only Great Balck Hawk I'm aware of in South Florida is one that is seen occasionally on Virginia Key in the Miami Area. This bird has been reported in the area for over 20 years, and its origin is a mystery. I don't know when it was last seen, but perhaps someone else will chime in with that info.

The last sighting I had of the Virginia Key Great Black Hawk was in November 2015. I looked frequently since then, but no luck. Perhaps others have seen it.
