Thick-billed Vireo continues in Cape Florida
The Thick-billed Vireo that Mike Vasi found on 10/23/17 continues in Bill Baggs Cape Florida SP. It's at the same location where Mike found it, which is where last winter's bird stayed. (See Mike's post below) NO PLAYBACK IS NECESSARY. Like most vireos, the bird is curious and has a grating, distinct scold.
The wintering birds are here and though I had 12 warbler species, most are expected winter birds for the park. Blue-headed Vireos have returned, along with a healthy population of Gray Catbirds. Other than the Thick-billed Vireo, a single Bobolink was the only other surprise.
