TAS walk at AD Barnes Park 9/4

Twenty-six birders came out today for the first TAS Sunday walk of the season, at AD Barnes Park. The day was warm and sunny, and we had an enjoyable hike. Although there were not great numbers of birds, we saw a good variety, including 6 species of warblers (with a good number of Worm-eating Warblers), and an unexpected Black-whiskered Vireo plus several Red-eyed Vireos.

Those who stayed for the second loop around the pool area and parking area got great looks at a pair of dark morph Short-tailed Hawks (our first of the season) wheeling overhead (I've posted a photo of one to my eBird report http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S31413756 ), as well as an immature Spot-breasted Oriole spotted by Eagle Eye Jack in a small hedge.

Our day's list:
Green Heron
White Ibis
Cooper's Hawk
Short-tailed Hawk
Rock Pigeon

And we saw a guy take a cage out of his trunk and release a cat(s) and drive away quickly. One of our group got his picture and Steve Siegel supplied his license plate. Waiting for her to post the picture and plate number.

Thanks Julie. Now will anyone do something about it? Who should we report this to?

So far so good. Think it works. Now we'll see if he does anything. I hope he at least contacts me and anyone else who called or emailed him.
