TAS walk at AD Barnes 9/15/18

When I arrived at 7:10 for a 7:30 walk, there were already 8 cars there! About 30 people showed up for the walk. Clearly, they had heard about the wonderful field trip leader---oops, never mind, everyone was there to see the TOWNSEND'S WARBLER first found on Tuesday. And the bird did not disappoint, with great looks for everyone who attended. A Tennessee Warbler seen by a few people in the same tree was a bonus.

Migrant activity was not as high as last weekend, although we did have 8 warbler species for the day. There were 2 Summer Tanagers, Eastern Wood-Pewee, a Yellow-throated Vireo among the squadrons of Red-eyed Vireos, and --for those who stayed long-- a Least Flycatcher in the trees along the entrance road.

It was great seeing everyone, and having a good crowd on a pleasant morning!

The day's list:
White-crowned Pigeon 1
Eurasian Collared-Dove 5
White-winged Dove 1
Mourning Dove 2

Some of us should have looked a little harder for the sparrow photographed at Barnes this morning by Alberto Hernandez. Turns out, it was a Bachman's Sparrow! Apparently, the last record of Bachman's Sparrow in Miami-Dade was in 1981!!!

Alberto's eBird checklist is at https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S48517433
