John Hutchison will lead this full-day carpool trip to birding locations in southern Broward County. Meet at 8:00 AM at Markham Park’s Meadow Nature Trail. From I-75, exit at Royal Palm Parkway (Exit 15). Drive west 0.5 miles to Weston Road. Turn right and drive west 2.8 miles to the park entrance. From I-595, exit at 136 Street (Exit 1A) and drive west 2.0 miles on SR 84 (I-595 service road) to the park entrance. Turn left after the entrance station (fee) to reach the nature trail parking area, opposite the dog park. Bring lunch. Bathrooms available at numerous locations.

Our target birds will be early migrant species, snail kite, swamp hen, burrowing owl.
Plan for an early lunch here at Markham Park.

After lunch we will continue to our second stop, which is ,Evergreen Cemetery, where there has been good numbers of early migrant warblers.
Directions to Evergreen Cemetary--Return to 595 East to the end of the highway in Ft. Lauderdale, where you will take Rt 1 (Federal HWY) north. Stay in middle lane until you cross 17th St. Then get in right lane for right turn onto SE 15th. St. Boston Market is on the corner. Go 2 blocks east, past elementary school, then turn left (north). Evergreen Cemetary is on the right one block ahead.
