Hey all,

We enjoyed a beautiful morning at AD Barnes Park leading the first of what we hope will be many TAS Family/Young Birder walks. We didn't have a strong showing of birders, but the birds certainly came out for the walk.

We found 16 species of warbler, best being Bay-breasted and Blackburnian Warbler. Both Summer and Scarlet Tanagers were present in healthy numbers. A Swainson's Thrush was seen near the boardwalk area. Multiple Red-eyed Vireos were busy with the Florida Tremas in Homeless Hammock. Also at Homeless Hammock, we found Eastern Kingbirds and one red variant House Finch in the Tremas on the south side of the hammock as well as an Acadian Flycatcher. While birding this area Dan Smyth and Hans G saw and photographed a Mangrove Cuckoo, possibly a new species for the park list.

Over the LAC buildings in the far south end of the park we found a Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and two Short-tailed Hawks. The Short-tails put on a great show, right over our heads, both light and dark morph birds! What a treat :)

Between our effort and other birders in the park, we believe 19 species of warbler were seen! 20+ is likely possible as we missed some "easier" warblers.
