The Rare Bird Update for the Red-necked Phalarope states "From the parking area, walk south along a berm for 100-200 yards. The bird has been seen to the west of the berm." But looking at the attached Map (on "Satellite"), it appears that the berm runs east-west from the parking area and that the wetland is south of the berm. Can anybody clarify which way from the parking area the bird is being seen?

Here are directions provided via WhatsApp text by Scott Scheinhaus, who saw the bird this morning: "South of the parking lot, there is a berm that goes south, with water on both sides. Walk the berm for 100 to 200 yards and scan the pond to the west. Scope is highly recommended."
It appears from the map that the closest north-south berm to the parking area is about 2,000 feet east of the parking area. I've texted Scott via What'sApp, asking for clarification, and will update the Rare Bird page once I receive it.

Another birder has provided clarification: The berm appears to be underwater on the Google Maps satellite image, but is currently above the water line. This berm begins just east of the parking area. The lat/long where the berm begins is at 26.6834514, -80.3510119. The lat/long where the Red-necked Phalarope has been seen is at 26.6823433, -80.3525672. This location is only visible by walking south down the "underwater" berm and looking west.
Ohhh. The old underwater berm ploy. So you CAN walk south down the berm from near the parking area. Awesome. Thanks so much for the clarification.
