Smooth-billed Ani at Loxahatchee NWR

Mike Baranski reported a Smooth-billed Ani today at Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Palm Beach County. The bird was photographed this morning on east side of first impoundment which is adjacent to the ag fields on the Marsh Trail.

It is amazing that Smooth-billed Ani has now become a hotline bird. Who knows what the cause is!.

In the late 80's, anis used to nest in that exact area, on the east side of the first impoundment. Hope it happens again.
