Short tailed Hawk at lunchtime/with lunch

I was at AD Barnes Park at noon today, giving my new camera and lens a workout, and chased a raptor that briefly soared by- he eventually revealed his whereabouts as he dined on a red bellied woodpecker. Having had the good fortune of photographing a perched black and chestnut eagle in Peru, litertally within 5 minutes of my asking the guide to arrange for the creature to appear, I have come to expect raptors to pose for me..Not!
Brian Rapoza confirmed my identification of a dark morph short tailed hawk--blame him if the identification is wrong...
