After dipping on the bird this morning with Shane Runyon and Hans Gonzembach, I went back this evening with Michael Diaz and Jared Guerra. Just after making the right hand turn onto Research Road we spotted a Florida Black Bear (photo linked below)! It was walking east along the road before turning right and heading south into the thickets where we lost it at 7:45pm. At about 8:05pm Michael spotted an owl flying along the south end of the berm seen southwest of the yellow gate. It's bouncy flight and constant dropping onto the ground gave it away and Mike saw the black band on the inner wing. Unfortunately, it was too far for photos but I may try again tomorrow and hope for better luck.
