Sandhill crane

Let me preface this post by saying that while I am a biologist, I am most certainly NOT a birder, so I truly apologize if this post is laughable, but I was wondering if it is common to see sandhill cranes in Miami Dade county. I observed a single individual on 11/28/16 at Crandon Beach North on Key Biscayne. I have lived in Miami for 15 years and have never seen one in the county prior to this, but again, I am not a birder so maybe I just haven't been in the right spots at the right times. Just curious.

Thanks!

Sandhill cranes were introduced to Crandon Park several years ago and are now resident. "Wild" Sandhill cranes are sometimes seen just outside the entrance to Everglades National Park in Homestead.
