Pat Pourchot and I discovered an immature Red footed Booby at the Dry Tortugas Tuesday afternoon. It was sitting among nesting frigatebirds in the tallest tree on Long Key. One could see a brown bird from Garden Key with a good scope, but we discovered it from a kayak.

Were you able to obtain a photograph of the bird?
no, did not. i know you probably need a photo. i did not see the feet, but one of our group of six did see the pinkish feet. i did tell a group of birders who had chartered a fishing boat , and they headed out toward the the spot, but i couldn't tell if they got close enough to see it well much less get a good photo.
Thanks. Yes, a photo would be nice.
