Bird Board

Pelagics Off Elliott Key

I hadn't planned on a trip so soon, but my friend Webb was down from SC and asked if I could take him and his wife fishing. Despite dealing with a kidney stone all night, and the side effects from the pain medication, I offered to do it. We got a late start due to my condition, but when we got out there we quickly found birds feeding. Unfortunately the dolphin under the birds were tiny. We did find a Sooty Shearwater, a species usually rare in Florida but being seen with more frequency this summer. Here's the complete species list:

Cory's Shearwater
Sooty Shearwater
Audubon's Shearwater
Brown Booby
Brown Noddy
Sooty Tern
Bridled Tern
