I'm considering building an owl nest boxes for my backyard near South Miami. I found specs for a barred owl box (see Link URL) above.
Any experience with attracting these types of owls to the South Miami area? Are there other owl species I should try to attract instead?

You are much more likely to attract Eastern Screech-Owls to your backyard. Barred Owls are not regularly reported in developed areas of Miami-Dade County.
