Bird Board

NW Dade Purple Martin Roost

Hey all,

We wanted to alert the local community that the Miami Lakes Purple Martin roost is back in full swing again this year. The roost is located at the corner of the NW 67th Avenue & the 826 Palmetto Expressway. A Burger King (16700 NW 67th Ave) is located on the corner, the birds roost in the trees to the west of the BK building. You can't miss it, there are literally thousands of birds!

We have been broadcasting the roost live for our friends on Facebook, but tomorrow we will broadcast live from a page where the public may view. We will go live at about 8:00pm at http://www.facebook.com/NatureisAwesomeTours
We also hope to be at the roost site nightly if possible, swing by and say hello!

If you can come see the roost in person, do it! If you are too far or cannot make it, we'll share it with you on our live feed. We'll try to post as many times as possible during the next couple of weeks. If you miss the live feed, you can always catch up with the video which will be posted on the page timeline. Enjoy!

Presumably over the Everglades. Using NEXRAD weather radar, we are able to determine the direction of travel as they lift off in the morning for a day of foraging. According to radar data, this concentration of birds picks up and moves NW, towards water conservation areas in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
