Montgomery Botanical Center Thick-billed Vireo 12/26 (eBird)

Hello all,

Just passing this along because I didn't see it posted on any Florida listserv. Dan Smyth had a Thick-billed Vireo at the Montgomery Botanical Center on the morning of 12/26/15.

"Initially alerted to it by scolding call which sounded somewhat similar to Yellow-throated Vireo but not with descending quality and with slower cadence. Was with mixed flock of warblers at southern end of property where oak srub habitat meets mangroves. Was with large flock of warblers around 12 feet up in trees. Had yellow lores and bright wingbar. Was mainly viewed from beneath, overall had very uniform color which gave appearance of being grayish-beige that was noticeably lighter in throat area. Eye was grayish-brown color and broken whitish spectacles were barely evident compared to what I've seen in pictures, perhaps indicating that it was an immature bird."

The location is listed as restricted in eBird.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is public access to the botanical center but I could be wrong. Dan was there for the Kendall CBC. Killer find btw!
