Fifty-seven birders participated I the Miami-Dade CBC on December 16. A total of 14,742 individuals of 139 species (13 non-ABA countable) were tallied. A first fall male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, photographed at Sewell Park, was a count first. Other unusual species this year included the much-reported White-cheeked Pintail (Virginia Key), a Cory’s Shearwater, twelve Brown Booby and a Pomarine Jaeger (all offshore), a Nashville Warbler (Greynold’s Park) and a male Dickcissel (Graceland Cemetery). New high counts included Indian Peafowl (24), Brown Booby (12), Black Vulture (325) and Summer Tanager (5). Pileated Woodpecker and Ruby-crowned Kinglet were reported during count week only, both seen at Greynold’s Park. Here’s the full list:
