Lucky Hammock is a bit beat up, but still great for birds

Took a trip earlier today to Lucky Hammock and I was pleasantly surprised by the aftermath of Irma on the place. Most of the prairie is with water to some levels but that didn't stop the dozens of Blackbirds and Yellowthroats and a pair of Sandhill Cranes from foraging and singing to make the walk enjoyable.

The best surprise is easily the hammock itself is standing strong, but beat up enough to get clear views of Prairie, Yellow-throated and Parula Warblers, along with some exceedingly bold and almost camera friendly Thrasher, Kingbird and Oriole.

Simply put, since the Everglades are closed down, a trip here will still be worthwhile to see many common but welcoming migrants to the area.
