L-31W Canal
Although we are quickly transitioning into spring, the L-31W Canal just outside Everglades National Park still offers an excellent and high quality winter mix of species.
The walk started with an early morning flyover Western Kingbirds and a single Scissor-tailed Flycatcher.
Highlights along the grassy and scrubby edge on the east side of the canal included Lincoln's, Swamp, and Grasshopper Sparrow, Painted and Indigo Bunting, Least Flycatcher, Yellow Warbler, and Yellow-breasted Chat.
Where the trail ends, I had the continuing Tropical Kingbird right on the wires. Fantastic morning walk!

Carlos,
I am unfamiliar with this area. Did you walk north or south from the road?
