Spotted this odd looking egret/heron landing among the others on Saturday - and I'm trying to figure out just what bird it is - then whether it's a hybrid, partial leucistic, or dark morph of that bird. Body similar to a juvenile little blue heron, face similar to great blue heron, size and body shape similar to cattle egret.

I've seen a few photos of this bird popping up on FaceBook and the consensus is that it's a dark morph Cattle Egret. More information can be found here:

OK - that seems to jive with the shape and bill. I hadn't heard of this one before - I'm not much of a Facebooker though. What's interesting is the legs are completely black, and the facial pattern really imitates the great blue very well, at least from a distance. What Facebook pages have you seen other photos of him? I'd like to see if anyone got closer looks at him.
