Flamingo seen this morning (8-9 am) on Virginia Key. It was last seen flying south, possibly toward Key Biscayne.

All these free-flying, unbanded flamingoes showing up between Palm Beach and Florida Bay cannot all be escaped birds. My only quesiton is which population (s) they are from (Bahamas, Cuba, Yucatan). Historically, Flamingoes made regular trips to Florida, sometimes in large flocks. I do know one banded bird seen in Florida Bay (Snake Bight?) was banded in Yucatan.
I think there were actually two birds in different years.
