Like Georgiana, we also have Eastern Screech Owls in our yard. I believe that we have had them for many years, but who is looking at night when they are active? We have a pair that attempted to nest in our owl box. I made the mistake of not putting mulch on the floor of the box before mounting it. When the owl laid an egg, it rolled to the front of the box against the box wall. The owl had no way of turning the egg to incubate it properly. The box was not completely level, the mulch takes care of that issue. The problem now is that the owls have vacated the nest and left the egg. Oh well, we will have to wait until the next nesting season. The owls are still in the yard which is nice!
