As a member of Audubon Society of the Everglades (as well as TAS) I was able to attend the Duda trip today. The shorebirding was as lackluster as it has been all over South Florida. Less than a dozen dowitchers (scope distance) 5 or so Pectorals, 1 Stilt Sandpiper, a couple of Black-bellied Plovers and Semipalmated Sandpipers. Lots of Leasts. The bird of the day was a Great White Heron.

A flooded field south of the big tower on US 27 (Star Quarry property) hosted some birds, largely Lesser Yellowlegs. I tried to turn some of the individuals with the thinnest bills into phalaropes, but my magic wand wasn't working today. This field won't stay wet very long.
