Does the Zenaida Dove swallow fine gravel to assist with digestion?

The behavior of the bird sounds a lot like the Key West Quail Dove last year. Perhaps what keeps bringing the dove back to the spot:

"They often swallow fine gravel to assist with digestion."

Did anyone happen to see this behavior, out of curiosity?

From my experience working with wild doves, I know our doves here eat gravel to assist with digestion. Wildlife rehabbers feed them grit when the doves are in an enclosure with a solid ground. The grit acts like the natural gravel would in the wild and assist the digestion process of the seeds the doves it. I don't see why this wouldn't apply to any other dove. That's just my personal 2 cents
