Deerfield Beach Least Tern Colony

Amazing event! LETE never nested on Deerfield Beach before. Strong colony, 175+ fledged chicks, many trials - the VERY WORST - the arrival of feral cats night of 7/8 - killed over 30 tiny chicks. Signs and tape taken down this morning. Was a huge honor to help protect these brave seabirds and to educated the amazed and fascinated public. Beautiful time for me and all our stewards.

Thank you, Ann, to you and your volunteers for protecting the birds. Sad to read about the cats, but it might have been worse without your hard work.
