Castellow Hammock 10-2-16: Philadelphia Vireo & Rufous Hummingbird

Rufous hummingbird continues at Castellow. Seen feeding from the firebushes at the entrance of the park. I also found a Philadelphia Vireo at about 10:15 a.m. in the same area as the hummingbird.

Noah - Your photos on eBird are gorgeous. Congratulations! Your photos of the young male Rufous Hummingbird show the gorget very well and why the bird isn't an adult female. As Dr. Heath mentioned (see my post below), the adult females will have a central gorget patch of 5-10 feathers. Your photo shows the gorget starting to fill in at various spots.
