Birds and Beasts of the Great Parks Trip Report
Ten birders joined Bill Boeringer and me for a nine-day birding tour in Montana and Wyoming on July 23-31. We visited three National Parks: Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton, plus Lake Mason and Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuges and the National Bison Range. We viewed incredible scenery on amazing roads like the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier and the Beartooth Scenic Highway, near Yellowstone. We witnessed several geyser eruptions, including Old Faithful, and peered into an Osprey nest from the very edge of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. We enjoyed meals in memorable restaurants, as well as one we'd just as soon forget. Along the way, we saw or heard 148 different birds and 21 different mammals, including mountain goats, bighorn sheep, elk, moose and bison. Click on the link below for a full trip report.
