Bird song ID...yellow warbler?

I heard this song today at dolphin mall. I'm thinking this is a yellow warbler but I've only heard one singing before so I'm not very familiar with it. The call was coming from a bush and after the bird went silent I played the song from allaboutbirds.org to check if it sounded like a match and it called back right away. Thanks!

Hard to tell in the background, but sounds like Northern Waterthrush.

Thanks for the input, John. I listened to the waterthrush song and can hear the similarity but I'm still leaning yellow warbler since a waterthrush wouldn't be expected this late. I'll put it up on xeno-canto to try to get more opinions.

Don't dismiss Northern Waterthrush so fast, Joseph. Take a look at the eBird bar graph for Miami-Dade; NOWA are often among the stragglers still migrating through south Florida in late May.

I agree with John and Brian, this sounds like a classic Northern Waterthrush. It has the tone, cadence and throatiness of this species. The phrase associated with Northern Waterthrush is usually "sweet old ladies don't chew, chew, chew" and if you listen closely (and use your imagination), you can hear these phrases. It can be a late migrant, which explains its presence.

Cornell's Macaulay Library has a fantastic CD with only warbler songs and calls and is easier to use than sorting through Xeno-Canto. Song selection #4 is almost identical to Joseph's recording.

Thanks for your opinions, Brian and Robin! I put it up on xeno-canto and got a 3rd set of ears that heard a Northern Waterthrush so I think it's safe to call it a Northern Waterthrush. (Brian, I'm not counting your ears since you helped me to reason a little better but didn't say "hey this sounds like a northern waterthrush" :D
