BBHU & WAVI's - YES! 01/16/16

Brian F., Marcello, and I came down to Miami this morning to try to spot the continuing rarities. BBHU was present first thing this morning at Castellow literally as soon as we walked in offering good looks and photo ops. After that we went to Matheson and located the 2 (extremely uncooperative) WAVI's around marker 7 on the nature trail. Could only get poor ID photos of the WAVI's. Photos below:

What is a WAVI???? English is a lovely language to use.

Tom--it's birdingspeak for Warbling Vireo. I believe that this and other bird acronyms are written, never spoken--although it might be very amusing to hear two twitchers converse entirely in this shorthand. You have to know the secret handshake to get the user's guide

After accidentally finding the trail, I had a single Warbling Vireo at marker 17 with four Gnatcatchers. Tough little bird to dig out today. I just kept walking the loop listening for Gnatcatxhers.

Yes the trail can be tough to find. It starts at the Northwest side of the nature area with Marker 1 and ends at Marker 22 i believe.
