Bananaquit North Shore Open Space Park Miami Beach
I met Smith Juan yesterday at the North Shore Open Space Park located at 79 st. and Collins ave. Miami Beach. We were joined by Paul from Washington DC. We were hoping to see the Bananaquit found by Shane Runyon. We parked across the street in a pay parking lot and walked in on the very south side of the park. The Bananaquit was seen in the Seagrape trees opposite a pretty Bougainvillea Bush on the south side of the path going to the beach. This is not far from Collins ave. The bird was seen with lots of Northern Parulas, Black-and-white Warbler, Palm Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler and Prairie Warbler. It stayed long enough to get some pictures but disappeared not too long after. One of the fruiting Strangler Figs in the park had no less than 50 Northern Parulas, the park was loaded with them! The same tree had a pale Yellow-throated Vireo.
