Bananaquit at North Shore Open Space Park

Today, looking for my Bird-A-Day bird, I found a bananaquit at the North Shore Open Space Park in Miami Beach. The bird was feeding in the seagrapes east of the Collins and 79th St. entrance. You can park on the street. Across from the seagrapes is a small gated community where there are a LOT of flowering plants. I have a feeling this little guy has been hanging out there. It called a few times and seemed to travel a little north into the other seagrapes.

Interesting to note, I could not use this as my Bird-A-Day selection....I got the one in Broward earlier this year......what a great problem to have.

Even more interesting to note, this is the park where Miami Beach is planning on cutting down almost all of the trees....to replace them with "better ones" that will encourage more people to come to the park. Just what we need on the beach.

The Bananaquit was present at Shane's original location between 1:30 and 2 PM today (3/16), when it was seen by three of us.
