Bahama Mockingbird at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park (Broward)

NOTE: Park will be closed Saturday and Sunday due to the Air & Sea Show in Fort Lauderdale. The ranger confirmed it will be closed to all public access and will re-open on Monday.

A Bahama Mockingbird was found and identified by Bryant Roberts near the pavilion/picnic area and large Banyan tree in the southern part of the park. This spot is accessed by following the park road north beyond the beach parking lot and looking for the first pavilion on your left. It is working both the west and east sides of the field and the trees and low vegetation around the pavilion.

I was able to relocate the bird this morning feeding around the pavilion. I will attach a link to the eBird checklist with photos once I get home.

Good luck to those who try today and to those who have to wait until Monday. Hopefully it will be able to tolerate all the disturbance in the area and jets overhead.

Best,
Mark
