American Flamingo/Biscayne National

This past Sunday at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm we observed an American Flamingo on the Oceanside of Elliot Key in Biscayne National Park. It was feeding continuously in shallow water as the tide receded. I've seen them overhead in Biscayne National but never wading so I was thrilled. This must be the bird reported recently by Elsa's colleagues at nearby Boca Chita. There was also a Whimbrel keeping a Willet company. Large midday flocks of Common Nighthawks flying south inches above the water were also greatly appreciated.

I'll send a photo of the Flamingo to Larry and ask him to post it.
