Although skies threatened, TAS had a nice walk at AD Barnes this morning, and the rain stayed away. Unfortunately, many of the migrants present earlier in the week had cleared out, but we still ended up with 12 species of warblers for the day. A singing House Wren was a nice start, and highlights included great views of 3 Spot-breasted Orioles (an adult and two juveniles) feeding in a small tree, 2 calling Broad-winged Hawks in the Nature Center, some good looks at a cooperative Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and 5 White-crowned Pigeons inexplicably sitting bunched together at the top of a single Australian Pine. Those who stayed to the bitter end were rewarded by good looks at a perched Chuck-will's-widow (until it flushed out) right in the area where we parked.
