12/14/19 Miami-Dade CBC Summary

A total of 15,189 individuals of 139 species (140 taxa: 126 countable/14 non-countable) were tallied by 44 participants during the 50th annual Miami-Dade Christmas Bird Count on December 14, 2019. This year’s results were 1,504 individuals and 8 species higher than in 2018. Common Eider and Masked Booby, both documented with photographs, were new for this count. Other unusual species included Glossy Ibis, Great Horned Owl, Louisiana Waterthrush, Swainson’s Warbler, Nashville Warbler and Rose-breasted Grosbeak. New high counts were obtained for Egyptian Goose, Wood Stork, Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, American Redstart, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler and Prairie Warbler. Twenty different warbler species were tallied during the count.

This is the flock of flamingos at Hialeah Racetrack that we are asked to survey every year.

Nice birds. I'd love to see the parrots. At one time back in the early '90's there was a map and or directions to roosts, feeding areas, etc, but I'm sure that's outdated now. Does anyone have a new map or directions to where I'd be able to see the various parrots?
